Let's look at An Example Of Content Editing
One of our clients had a member submit an article for their online newsletter. The paragraph below is an excerpt from the original submission:

"This ride was terrific; me and hubby and no plans; did what we wanted; stayed as long as wanted and left when ready. Locals suggested we visit the kinzua bridge; headed toward allegheny forest. Bridge built of iron in 1882; it's the highest railroad bridge in the world."

This is how it looked after content editing:

"This ride was terrific, just me and my husband with no plans. We just did what we wanted, stayed for as long as we wanted and left when we got ready. Some locals suggested we visit the Kinzua Bridge (Iron Bridge). So we headed towards the Allegheny Forest. The bridge was built of iron in 1882 and was the highest railroad bridge in the world."

As you can see, we did not change the author's ideas or way of expressing herself. She was very pleased with how her article looked in the newsletter. We also added a link to some pictures of the bridge at a website about the historic bridge.

How Do You Charge?
Most companies charge around $10 per page for content editing and they define a "page" as 500 words. 500 words is not really a very big page.(Note: There are 293 words on this page to the end of the previous sentence) We prefer to charge by the hour because we believe that you should get what you pay for and only buy what you need. If you are a pretty good writer, why should you pay the same amount as a really poor writer?. For example, the article that the excerpt above was taken from contained 1136 words. It took a little less than an hour to edit the article and another 15 minutes to locate the pictures on the web so we could add the links. Most other editing services would have billed for 3 pages and would not have looked up the picture links. We billed for 1 hour.
